Being an expert in some area, you want to share your knowledge, and the modern world provides the most optimum opportunity to do - to create a tutorial. What is the tutorial? How to create an effective tutorial? Tutorial is essentially a step by step explanation of the essence of a process instruction in the course of performing a specific task. It is intended to introduce the complex task as simple successive operations. If the problem is well understood by you, it seems, will have no difficulty to present it to those who need help. However, to be an expert in something, does not mean this to be able to effectively teach. Even remotely. What factors play a role in establishing an effective tutorial? Your tutorial will receive due attention, taking into account four important aspects: the language, organization, presentation and content.
The most obvious requirement for any tutorial is an effective presentation of information or communication. People need tutorials, because they want to cover a process that is not fully understood. If tutorial is full of specialized technical terms that are understood only by people familiar with the process, it will not do anybody any good. Ever wondered why books "For Dummies?" are so popular. They talk to the reader in simple language understandable to everyone.
Creating tutorial requires much more time than is necessary to study it. In order to help others and teach them to start to organize their own thoughts. Tutorial, which jumps from one point to another, is useless. First we need to create a plan, the skeleton content. The best way to structure the information is good - it's time to execute the process in the course of its implementation making notes. Pay close attention to what and how you are doing, because what may seem obvious to you, some small detail, perhaps, would be an embarrassment for the beginner. Try to look at the process from the outside, through the eyes of an inexperienced user. Try to remember the difficulties you are faced for the first time. Describe even the tiniest steps that may seem obvious. When finished, carefully learn the written and make sure the process is presented in the form of logical steps.
The presentation is the one "hook" that can catch the attention of the audience. There are many tutorials with first-class information, but such poor quality that learning them is not possible. If you have invested time and effort in creating your lesson, its quality should fully reflect the level of your knowledge and skills. Pay attention to details. Check spelling and grammar. Check the format you choose. Make sure that the references used in the tutorial work. Think about what file format should be used so that they are available for the maximum number of users. Perhaps not everyone has the ability to download large files, someone not play Flash, etc. The greatest effect would be if you provide several options for how you can learn the material. Share your knowledge to create effective tutorials!
